At Cannington Community College, we welcome new families into our school community. This page contains all the information you need to apply for enrolment, understand our intake area, and learn about contributions and charges.

HOW TO APPLY FOR YOUR ENROLEMENT

Enrolment begins with an Application for Enrolment form. Parents or a court-appointed guardian must complete this form. You can:

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee placement. Enrolment is confirmed only after eligibility is assessed.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Children who are permanent residents of Australia, or who hold a valid visa subclass, are eligible to apply. Parents or guardians will need to provide their child’s visa details at the time of application.

Students currently under suspension from another government school cannot be enrolled until the suspension period is complete.

When submitting your application, please provide copies of the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunisation History Statement (AIR) – dated within the last 2 months
  • Proof of Address (e.g. utility bill or lease agreement)
  • Family Court Orders (if applicable)
  • Medical information relating to conditions or disabilities
  • Visa (if applicable)
  • Passport or travel documents (if applicable)
  • Most recent school report (Secondary enrolments only)

To apply for admission to Cannington Community College:

Voluntary Contributions

  • Kindergarten – Year 6: $60 per child
  • Years 7–10: $235 per child

Families eligible for the Education Payment Allowance will have the $235 deducted automatically, with any balance applied to voluntary contributions.

Voluntary Approved Requests

  • Technology Systems: supports access to devices, printing and internet services
  • Library Resources: funds new books and curriculum resources
  • P&C Contribution: $20 per family, collected on behalf of our Parents & Citizens’ Association

Compulsory Charges

Some courses, particularly electives in Years 9–10, attract additional charges due to higher costs. Examples include:

  • Engineering STEM program
  • PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge) for Years 5–6 (up to $300 per year)
  • Other specialist electives or optional activities

Extra Cost Options

Throughout the year, families may be asked to contribute towards optional programs such as excursions, camps, performances, and sports activities.

Parents are also required to supply personal items (e.g. stationery, calculators, and other classroom materials). A recommended list is provided each year.

 

AIR IMMUNISATION STATEMENT

A child's current AIR Immunisation History Statement can be accessed at any time by the parent/guardian through:

  • MyGov, by logging in to their Medicare online account
  • Medicare Express Plus App, by logging in to the Medicare account
  • Visiting a Medicare or Centrelink office, or
  • Calling the AIR General Enquiries Line on 1800 653 809 for the Statement to be posted.

INTAKE AREA

Cannington Community College is a local-intake school. Priority is given to students who live within our designated intake boundaries.

The following defines the local-intake area for this school for students in primary year levels:

From the junction of Albany Highway and Welshpool Road, east along Welshpool Road to the railway line, south east along the railway line to William Street, south west along William Street to Albany Highway, west along Albany Highway to Nicholson Road, south west along Nicholson Road to the Canning River, north west along the Canning River to the south westerly extension of Civic Gardens (formerly Wharf Street), north east along Civic Gardens and its north east extension to Albany Highway and north east along Albany Highway to Welshpool Road. The boundary parts of Welshpool Road (south side), William Street (north west side), Albany Highway (southern section, north side), Nicholson Road (north west side), Civic Gardens (south east side) and Albany Highway (northern section, east side) are included within the local-intake area of this school.

The following defines an optional area between Cannington Community College and Wilson Primary School.

From the junction of Albany Highway and Manning Road, west along Manning Road to Fleming Avenue, south east along Fleming Avenue to Kent Street, south west along Kent Street and its south westerly extension to the Canning River, generally south, east and north along the Canning River to the south westerly extension of Civic Gardens, north east along this extension to and along Civic Gardens and its north east extension to Albany Highway, north west along Albany Highway to Manning Road. The boundary parts of Manning Road (south side), Fleming Avenue (both sides), Kent Street (both sides), Civic Gardens (north west side) and Albany Highway (south west side) are included within this optional area.

From the junction of Albany Highway and Leach Highway, south west along Leach Highway (south east side included) to the Shelley Bridge, generally east and south east along the Canning River to the Roe Highway, north east and north along the Roe Highway (west side included) to the Tonkin Highway, north west along the Tonkin Highway (south west side included) to Kewdale Road, south west along Kewdale Road (south east side included) to Welshpool Road, west along Welshpool Road (south side included) to the railway line, south east along the railway line to Leach Highway and south west along Leach Highway (south east side included) to Albany Highway.

The following defines an optional area between Cannington Community College and Kent Street Senior High School.

From the intersection of Albany Highway and Leach Highway, north east along Leach Highway (north west side included) to the railway line, north west along the railway line to Welshpool Road, west along Welshpool Road (south side included) to Albany Highway, and south east along Albany Highway (north east side included) to Leach Highway.
